We spend more time in our bedrooms than any other room, so it's essential to create an environment that promotes relaxation and a good sleep. When you declutter the bedroom, you’re investing in your well-being and creating a peaceful retreat where you can unwind from the day or connect with your partner!

Below, we have included simple things to declutter in your bedroom today as well as one essential thing to relocate, ensuring that every moment spent in bed contributes to your health and wellbeing. And since it’s the area most associated with intimacy and relationships… romance!

We have also included 3 easy wins for your closet. We know decluttering clothes can feel like a big project but below are some simple ways to make your closet feel more spacious and calm.

Bedroom:

  1. Extra books you don’t plan to (or probably won't) read. A backlog of books stacked on a bedside table can feel overwhelming.
  2. Electronics like gadgets, chargers, or cables that live in a bedside drawer that are no longer in use or functional.
  3. Candles. Candles have a shelf life. Discard candles that are discolored or dusty and can't be cleaned.
  4. Old, worn-out bedding or excess sheets, blankets, or pillows. There’s really no need for any more than one extra set of sheets.

Items to relocate:

  1. Anything that does not promote sleep and intimacy is best stored in a different location. This includes all the pictures of family members (no one wants their mother-in-law “looking” at them while trying to be intimate!).

Bedroom Closet (the easy wins):

  1. Clothes that are torn or stained and can’t be repaired.
  2. Old shoe boxes and shopping bags. Unless you use these for storage your closet will feel tidier without these items.
  3. Hangers from the dry cleaners. Unwrap any dry cleaning and dispose of, or return the hangers to the dry cleaner, for a calmer more cohesive closet with more space.
